To put it bluntly, they are mercenaries. They are all members of various PMC-like organizations, some bigger, some smaller, many specialized. However, all of them have Deal-Makers as their head; these creatures are extra-dimensional beings capable of warping lesser individuals around as they like and are VERY powerful. They respond to hails for help, and job requests from people in various dimensions and planes of existence whom they have deemed worthy of contacting them and send an Outgoer, or several, to help in whatever situation they need for a modest fee of ‘Motes’, metaphysical condensation of desire exported into a tangible form.
However, it should be noted that despite essentially being mercenaries, that doesn’t necessarily mean all Outgoer organizations deal strictly in violence and destruction. Many do of some stripe or another, but not all. An organization can specialize in whatever they feel has a market, so long as they make a good amount of Motes from the clients to contribute to the Intersection’s growth. Construction and peaceful efforts are just as valid as assassination for an Outgoer group’s business. All that matters are the Motes.
These Outgoer Companies are all sizes and each have particular specialties. Several of the ones in Magical Showdown will be featured here; make sure you remember these symbols, as they can be a shortcut to understanding what each character you're about to pick specializes in!
A military-based Outgoer organization. They are far more regimented and structured than the vast majority of Outgoer organizations, up to and including the other two of the Big 3. They utilize mass-force tactics much like a modern-day mercenary force, and take in the highest number of unpowered/mundane individuals to accomplish this.
Dynamic Methods has thousands of individuals in its employ and is easily the biggest Outgoer organization by sheer numbers; they also have the highest tech adoption rate of the Big 3 in order to make up for shortcomings with regards to less magical girls/empowered in their ranks. Because of this, their HQ is the only one that has an extensive underground portion due to the facilities required. They utilize a massive flying yet multirole carrier as their primary base of operations when out on missions requiring heavy manpower and have two of them. These massive carriers have multipurpose functions, holding multiple aircraft in built in hangars, full barracks and living arrangements for extended assignments, and training areas for practice as well.
There are multiple Divisions within Dynamic Methods, and Battalions within that for specialty operations.
Dynamic Methods are multi-role, multi-purpose, and tech smart. Their combatants tend to fight using gadgets and devices that not only act independently from the user, they can also be used by other teammates as well, and can be critical support tools for a needy fighter. So if you want to overwhelm your opponents and support your allies with technological tools and clever traps, find a Dynamic Methods Outgoer!
Interdiction is the most well-respected Outgoer organization going, and often considered the ideal when the topic of Outgoers is broached. Boasting the largest number of magical girls and boys in their employ, they specialize in heavy-duty 'cleaning' ops; those requiring heavy firepower, incredible resistance, powerful magic, or some combination thereof.
Interdiction are the creme de la creme of The Intersection, and this generally results in them being considered near the top of the social ladder, even among other Outgoers. This has led to more than a few members getting a swelled head, but for some, it’s almost understandable. Everyone in the organization is highly powerful, specialized in an area, or some combination thereof, and new recruits are rigorously trained to uphold those standards- even positions like secretary, janitor, office worker, or other ostensibly non-combat roles require prior combat experience and power that would otherwise likely get them a combat role in Dynamic Methods or many other smaller Outgoer outfits. Many apply to become a member of Interdiction, but few naturally get in without recommendation from several current active members.
Interdiction are all about raw might- dominating the battlefield in mighty bursts with sweeping attacks or unstoppable charges. It takes time to unleash their full power, mind, but once they do, everyone should be wary while they impose their will. If you want to lord over the fight, find an Interdiction Outgoer!
A courier-based Outgoer organization. They are specialists in 'Asset Acquisition and Retrieval', meaning primarily tracking, theft, treasure hunting, hostage situations, escort duties, and similar. They're all about speed and stealth, with the vast majority of their Outgoers being able to accelerate themselves in some form. Many gearheads and ex-racers call this team home, and they commonly race each other to keep skills sharp when not out on jobs.
Flashpoint has a vast motor pool and has a large quantity of specialized high-speed vehicles, from hoverboards to classic racing cars to aircraft. They lack as many vehicles outright as Dynamic Methods, nor are they as heavily armed, however they are unquestionably the fastest. SOP for Flashpoint operatives is not to stand and fight, but rather to ‘exit the immediate area with all due haste’ when under heavy threat or fire. This isn’t to say they cannot defend themselves at all, but generally the reliance and preference for speed over defense or strength leaves them with little other recourse. Nonetheless, their overall reliability in getting the job done means that the skills of Flashpoint Outgoers are nothing to scoff at.
Flashpoint primarily focuses on speed, speed, and more speed. With quick movement and quick acting special techniques, they are often first on the scene of an objective, and first out if you can't catch them for the brief moments they stop. They don't hit too hard, but they don't need to if they're racking up cash faster you can say 'zoom'! If you want to get from Point A to Point B ASAP, find a Flashpoint Outgoer!
